2020 was different. Not necessarily bad. I think a lot of people have used the time to think and started doing things for which they usually cannot find time. Many people became creative and discovered the music for themselves or any other kind of art during the lockdown.

Musicians may even have found the time to finally record and release their first songs.
I think this year was an opportunity for all newcomers as the major labels have withheld some of their releases.

Newcomers have had the chance to be heard and included in playlists, where normally only the stars can be found. Apart from that it was largely business as usual. Since the artists could not tour other new possibilities have proved successful. New music platforms were discovered, streaming concerts have become established and there were a lot of possibilities to earn money without touring.

So, did 2020 ruin music? I don´t think so. It´s very sad that there are no concerts at the moment, but the music business continues and flourishes again through the many newcomers and new opportunities!

Crazy times but I think a lot have started to live their dream as a musician and – thank god – nobody made a COVID-anthem.
